Within the valuable and grand paintings that hang on the walls of the MoMa there is a line &amp;#8211; literately &amp;#8211; of inspiration with two new engaging exhibitions.  The first one is &lt;em&gt;Transforming Chronologies: An Atlas of Drawings&lt;/em&gt;, which is a two-part exhibition of drawings from the museum&amp;#8217;s collection and &lt;em&gt;The Compulsive Line:Etching 1900 to Now&lt;/em&gt;.

&lt;em&gt;Bridge Freezes Before Road&lt;/em&gt;  at the &lt;strong&gt;Barbara Gladstone Gallery&lt;/strong&gt; falls prey to both the safety and the glamour of celebrating culture&amp;#8217;s new darlings. To be fair, there are some extraordinary pieces of work in this group show, but the overall impression is one of superficial attempts to be cool.

Recalling on some level early Cubist collage, Magnus von Plessen &amp;#8220;plays&amp;#8221; with how the eye chooses to see, distinguish and define space. He meticulously builds up levels of paint, and small, scattered areas of color resembled cast away bits of paper, re-configured to presume form.

A thoroughly and impressive exhibition that exposes Jewish women&amp;#8217;s salons from 1780&amp;#8217;s to 1930 and the overall influence that they had on art, music, literature and politics.
