With their new release Teen Pop Dream (Full Breach Kicks, 2007), The Soda Pop Kids deliver a raw, head banging record that combines the best of 80s rock with the energy of punk. Band members Diet D (guitar and vocals), Alan (drums), Tony Mengis (bubble bass), Jonny P. Jewels (oral tantrums/vocals) and Zachariah Tombstone (guitar and vocals) hail from Portland, Oregon but channel the sounds of The Clash with a touch of The Ramones on this their newest release.

‘The Autumn Offering’ returns with a second album, Embrace the Gutter. With this sophomore effort, especially in the middle portions of the album, the five-man band from Florida seems to be developing a style of its own.

But our heroes deftly cooked ‘n’ cranked it all up again throughout their just-too-brief Floridian reign beneath Reagan’s watch, presidentially still speaking that is. And NOW, just in our nick of times you bet, this fearless foursome return to the current digi-age with every single inch of their sly, sonic sheen intact and their Message of Melody as wickedly inspiring as ever.

“Impressive” was the word a friend used to describe Joseph Arthur after checking out one of his shows. She described the concert in a mix of giddy, schoolgirl terms and music writer/hipster hyperbole. After she finished with her enthusiastic “ooh-ing” and “ahh-ing,” I wished I’d seen him too.

I was amazingly surprised with Michael Bublé’s sophomore studio album, It’s Time, especially when one of my favorite songs of all time ‘Feeling Good’ stands first on the list track. He does a great rendition too, perhaps one of the reasons why his voice and performance, especially in this record, is often compared to that of Sinatra.
