FilmSide-Splitting 'Zohan'By Marcos Bernal-SalasFriday, June 6, 2008The latest Adam Sandler comedy ‘You Don’t Mess With the Zohan’ is full of hilarious moments, political opinions and off-the wall jokes. A combination that has proven successful at the box office with some comedies in the last year of so – many of them out of Judd Apatow’s twisted mind – who also collaborates in this project with Sandler. In a nutshell, Zohan is a lethal top Israeli commando – popular and well-known – who fakes his death to become a hairstylist and put the war behind him; in a way to start a new life. Unfortunately, he quickly finds out that he cannot escape his past as old enemies resurface to smoke him out of comfortable settings. Love and the ‘silky, smooth’ hairstyle are put on hold as Zohan gets backs to his roots; no pun intended. The story and its setting are far ridiculous – in a good way – that will have you laughing until the end credits. Sandler has created the most outlandish character to date. Zohan is a combination of kick-ass soldier with a softer side for a perfect haircut. The ‘silky, smooth’ line is a combination of his efforts to make his childhood dreams a reality – even if it’s working at the Paul Mitchell salon. ‘Zohan’ also has features some surprising cameos: Kevin James, Michael Buffer and Mariah Carey are the most recognized faces within. On and all, ‘You Don’t Mess With the Zohan’ is a side-splitting comedy. Sandler and company deliver one of the best Summer films to date that is sure to please the move going audience this weekend.
